Botulinum toxin (botox) is a protein from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In aesthetic medicine, it's injected in small doses to temporarily relax muscles, which reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Besides aesthetic applications, botox is also used to treat medical conditions like muscle spasms, teeth grinding (bruxism), chronic migraines and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
